Weekly Art Challenge – All Grades- Week 4

Hello Artists! How are you today? This week’s challenge is Animal Mashups.



Materials:
at least 2 pieces of White Drawing Paper (computer paper is fine)
Pencil and Eraser
Sharpie or Black Pen
Coloring Supplies (crayons/markers/color pencils)




Step 1: Get inspired. Look at these animal mashups to get your imagination going. 


Step 2: Sketch. Choose 2 animals to mashup. On a blank piece of paper practice combining the key features of both animals into a new animal. Sketch your new animal multiple ways. For example, if you choose a cat and a fish try sketching the cat’s head and fish tail. Then do another sketch of a fish head with cat paws and tail.

Step 3: Draw your new animal. On a new piece of drawing paper lightly draw your new animal in pencil.

Step 3: Draw the background/environment. Think about what kind of environment your animal would live in. If it has scales and fins, it would probably live in the ocean. If your animal has feathers and wings it would probably fly in the sky. What does your animal’s home look like? 
Draw the background by drawing the environment your animal lives in. 

Step 4: Outline. If you have a sharpie or black pen outline your drawing. If you don’t have these supplies skip this step.

Step 5: Color. Use whatever coloring supplies you have to color your drawing. Don’t forget to sign your artwork when you are done. 

Bonus Step 6: Fill out the Info Sheet. Click the link to access and print out a blank info sheet for your animal. Get creative with some of your answers.

Grade 1- Mindful Art Ms. Pattinger Now more than ever it’s important to express our emotions. What better way than through art.:) Art can provide a healthy outlet for feelings that people need to get out. It is also another way of communicating when someone cannot always put into words. The following exercises can help your child to be more in touch with and aware of their feelings. Week 6 Art Challenge Square Heads It’s like a puzzle! Cut out the tiles and rearrange them to create different characters.   Art Supplies: Access to Printer Coloring Supplies   Scissors Glue stick Step 1:  Click the  link  and  print  the grid and tiles sheets.   *if you do not have color ink or are running low only print page 1 & 2. Step 2:  Decide if you would like to use the already colored tiles or color your own. If you want to use the already finished tiles skip to the next step. I suggest creating your own tiles with your favorite colors.   To create your own tiles, color in the shapes on the blank grid using  only 4 colors . Since we are creating a face you may want to consider coloring pairs of circles the same color for the eyes.   Step 3:  Cut out the colored tiles along the grid line.
