Week 3 -Weekly Art Challenge - All Grades

Grades K - 5 Rainbow Challenge In these  challenging times it is important to keep a positive outlook. Your challenge this week is to create a rainbow and place it in a window or outside to spread positivity to those who see it.  The  possibilities  are endless. Be creative! If you and your family go for a walk, consider it a "rainbow walk" and count how many rainbows you can find!    Watch the link below to see how other children are participating in this wonderful way to spread cheer. Grade 3 - Week 3 - Mandalas

Gather your Materials. Go for a walk or wander around your backyard collecting items to use in your mandala. Bring a bag with you to carry your items. Pick up things like pebbles, acorns, leaves, stems, twigs, flowers, etc., you can find anything you think would look good. As well as interesting singular items, try to pick up multiple objects too. This way you will have enough items to go around the outside of your mandala. (If you cannot get outside you can still do this assignment indoors by using items gathered from around the house: like legos, crayons, silverware). 3. Choose a Location. Grade 4 - Week 3 - Zentangle

Zentangle Spring Gardens with Ms. Favara Supplies (You can choose your own supplies based on what you have available to you at home) Key Words Foreground: the part of a picture or artwork that is nearest to the observer.  Background:  the part of a picture that serves as a setting to the main figures or objects, or that appears furthest from the viewer. Zentangle:  The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles.  Pattern:  a repeated decorative design. Grade 5 - Week 3 - Plate Portraits

Grade 2 - Week 3 - Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse With Ms. Favara Ms. Favara’s Supplies:   *Any supplies you have available to you at home are fine. White drawing paper any size    (printer paper is fine) Magazines or colored construction paper Glue Scissors Key Vocabulary Organic Shape: Organic shapes are shapes that are irregular or asymmetrical they tend to have a curvy flow to them. Often found in nature. Geometric Shape:  Geometric shapes are defined as shapes that have regular appearance and are typically man made using machines. Overlap:     is the placement of one object over one another in order to create the illusion of depth.  Collage:  a piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing. Grade 1 - Week 3 - Mindful Art

Grade 1- Mindful Art Ms. Pattinger Now more than ever it’s important to express our emotions. What better way than through art.:) Art can provide a healthy outlet for feelings that people need to get out. It is also another way of communicating when someone cannot always put into words. The following exercises can help your child to be more in touch with and aware of their feelings. Even reflecting on their art can give them new understanding about their feelings. 6 Image Art Sequence 1.      Scribble Warm-up 2.      Happiness 3.      Anger 4.      Anxiety/Fear 5.      Sadness 6.      How do you feel today You will need 6 pieces of paper.  For the scribble warm-up, encourage them to cover the pages with scribbles and lines. Experimenting with how the materials feel and how many different types of lines they can make. For each of the emotions, I encourage them to do an abstract picture and avoid words and faces. Kindergarten Art- Mindful Flowers  Ms. Pattinger  You can design a beautiful garden full of happy flowers and nurture gratitude and joy as you build it. Start by talking about the things they are grateful for.  The gratitude flowers activity teaches kids to: Appreciate the small things in life, Be grateful for everything they have, Be mindful of the things that are going right in their lives and the people they hold closest to their hearts. What you need: Colored paper to cut out flower parts, Glue and Scissors Directions   Find fun colored paper for your gratitude flowers. 1. Start by cutting out a circle for the center of the flower. Make it big enough so that you have ample space to write.   2. Next cut out big petals for the flower. Be creative and experiment with colors. The petals can be any shape.  3. Good Morning Families, Moving forward grades K-1 will be instructed by Ms. Pattinger. Grades 2-5 will alternate weekly lessons with Ms. Favara and Ms. Kampson. Any questions that may arise feel free to reach out directly to your regular Art teacher. We will be happy to help. We will also have a separate weekly art challenge that is optional for you to participate in. If you have a sketchbook or would like to create one as we go along we would love to see your collection of creativity when we return to school. Please remember, this weekly challenge is optional. We will have weekly art quotes to inspire you and hopefully get your creative juices flowing! We are so excited to create with you!
