Chalk Illustrations
with Ms. Favara
Ms. Favara’s Supplies:
Sidewalk Chalk
*Any supplies you have available to you at home are fine. If you don’t have sidewalk chalk you can use images from magazines and/or draw your background on paper with crayon and cut out a photo of yourself to add to the image.
Key Vocabulary
Background: the place or surroundings where a story or adventure takes place.
Illustration: a picture that tells a story.
Instructions:
Choose your favorite part of your favorite book or movie and add yourself into the adventure. Create a background using chalk outside and have someone take a picture of you in your scene.
I recommend you sketch out your idea first on a piece of paper.
If you don' t have sidewalk chalk, just draw a picture of your favorite story and cut an old photo of you to add yourself into the picture. Or you can just draw yourself into the image.
Optional BONUS:
Write a short story or poem to go along with your masterpiece. What happens next? What happened first?
When you complete your artwork feel free to send me a picture or you can print out a picture of your work and hold onto it until we return to school. I recommend making an “Art Folder” that you can bring back to school with you. You can also ask an adult to help you tag a photo to my classroom Instagram account.
